Roosevelt Policy Academy

The Roosevelt Academy:
On Campus and Over Summer

The applications deadline for the Summer Academy has passed.  Thank you to everyone who applied; you should be hearing from the national office soon.  If you are interested in our Fall Academy program, please contact Paul Burow.

The Roosevelt Academy is a new program that matches highly qualified members of the Roosevelt Institution with paid academic-year and summer internships at prominent progressive organizations and with elected officials. The Academy’s primary aim is to provide today’s talented young people with the real-world experience, skills, and connections necessary to become effective policymakers in the future.

Both school-year and summer internships are paid;

The 10-week summer program pays $3500.

The semester program pays $750.

These stipends ensure that all students, regardless of socio-economic background, are free to participate.

Summer 2008

The Roosevelt Summer Academy combines a full-time internship with a training curriculum, weekly networking and educational events to supplement your job, all part of an integrated curriculum of leadership development.

The program is being run in conjunction with the Center for Progressive Leadership's New Leaders Program. Positions are available at the Roosevelt Institution's national office as well as at organizations like the Center for American Progress, the Economic Policy Institute, the DC Office of Planning, and many others.

The program runs 10 weeks, from June 9 to August 15. Exceptions to these dates can me made under some circumstances.

The application deadline has already passed. If you have any questions, please contact paul.burow@rooseveltinstitution.org

On Campus

Students work directly with policy organizations and elected officials on a part-time basis, providing 5-12 hours per week of work. Students engage in substantive work on policy issues, helping to support important legislative efforts. Applicants are not required to be active members of the Roosevelt Institution. Academy fellows will be offered a stipend of $750 per semester for their work.

The applications for the fall 2008 semester are currently being accepted. Please contact Paul Burow if you are interested in applying.

If you are considering applying, please open an application account by submitting the Personal Information portion of the application (Part 2) as soon as possible.  Submitting Part 2 of the application does not commit you to applying.
